New Orleans Muffuletta Sandwich
4-6
Introduction
Easy to make and quite savory. Order the Olive Salad by the jar from Central Grocery in New Orleans, it's the best. If you can't get it, try Boscoli Italian Olive Salad. Great for picnics.

Ingredients
· 1 Jar Central Grocery Olive Salad or Boscoli Italian Olive Salad
· One (10-inch) round loaf boule bread (Italian, French) or
any other bread that is soft on the inside with a crispy thin crust.
· ½ pound thinly sliced deli genoa salami
· ½ pound sliced deli provolone (not smoked)
· ½ pound thinly sliced capicola ham (if not available, hickory smoked ham will work)
· ½ pound thinly sliced mortadella
Steps
1. Slice bread in half horizontally. A serrated knife works well.
2. Use your fingers to scoop a bit of the bread out to make a shallow depression in the bread out to about ¼ from the edges.
3. Spread enough olive salad to fill the depression you’ve created.
4. Layer the genoa salami over the olive salad.
5. Next, layer the provolone cheese, then the capicola, and mortadella.
6. Top with a thin layer of the olive salad --Optional
7. Place the other half of the bread on top.
8. Tightly wrap the entire sandwich in plastic wrap and refrigerate.
9. Cut the cold sandwich into individual wedges.
