Inspirational Women's Fiction
Where the Bayous Meet the Mountains

Louisiana roots.
Colorado mountains. Stories of grace.
I’m Marian P. Merritt, an author of inspirational women’s fiction shaped by faith, family, and a strong sense of place.
I grew up in South Louisiana, where bayous, family stories, food, faith, and a distinctive culture became part of the way I see the world. Today my home is on Colorado’s Western Slope, surrounded by mountains, wide-open landscapes, and the remnants of places that once held thriving communities.
Those two very different landscapes continue to influence the stories I tell.
MEET MARIAN
WHERE THE BAYOUS MEET THE MOUNTAINS
The places that call us home matter.
Place has always been more than scenery to me. It shapes memory, family, identity, and the choices we make.
South Louisiana gave me the bayous, live oaks, front porches, food traditions, and complicated family ties that often find their way into my fiction.
Colorado has given me mountains, old mining roads, abandoned towns, and a new appreciation for the stories people leave behind.
Whether a story takes place in Louisiana, Tuscany, Colorado, or somewhere entirely new, I’m drawn to women who are navigating change, asking hard questions, and discovering that grace often appears in unexpected places.

SOUTH LOUISIANA
Bayous, family, tradition, and a way of life.

COLORADO
Mountains, history, wide-open spaces, and stories that remain.
WHY I WRITE

Stories of hope, grace, and restoration
I write about women whose lives have not unfolded exactly as they expected.
They may be grieving, returning home, facing a broken relationship, discovering a family secret, or standing at a crossroads they never planned to reach. Faith is part of their lives, but it does not make their choices easy or their questions disappear.
What interests me most is what happens next—the quiet decisions, the difficult conversations, and the moments of grace that begin to change a life.
I hope my stories leave readers with the sense that restoration is possible, that second chances matter, and that home is sometimes a place we have to rediscover.
BEYOND THE BOOKS
When I'm not writing...

You’ll often find me exploring Colorado mountain roads with my husband, searching out abandoned mining towns and the history they left behind.
Those trips have become part of the Colorado Adventures series on my blog and have become another way I collect stories of place.
I also enjoy bringing the food from my fiction into the real world through From the Stories to the Table, a collection of recipes featured in my novels and novellas.
And somewhere in the middle of all of it, there is usually family, faith, a camera, a cup of coffee, and Harley, our Miniature Schnauzer, nearby.
