Back in Bijou Bayou after fleeing from an abusive boyfriend, Cheryl works as a Hospice nurse. While caring for her dying Vietnam War veteran, he asks her to read love letters from long ago to him. While reading those letters, she discovers family secrets that shatter Cheryl's beliefs about her family, herself, and shed light on the reason she fled her hometown years ago.
