Talking about myself is difficult. Making up characters is much easier. I’m an army brat, having spent more than half my childhood in the Ozark foothills of Arkansas. I’m married to a wonderful man, have one birth child, three step-children, three adopted children, five grandchildren, two dogs, two cats, and a fish. I currently live in Surprise, Arizona. I’ve been making up stories my entire life.
When Barbour requested submissions for their upcoming cozy line, my friend told me I should write something for them. I didn’t know what a cozy was so I said no! Anyway, she practically dared me to write the story. I drifted to La La Land, came up with the plot and characters, wrote the story, entered it into a contest, won, obtained my agent, Kelly Mortimer, from that win, and my agent sold the book to Barbour. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind year, but I wouldn’t change anything.
What I enjoyed most was coming up with misadventures for Summer and writing the blooming romance between her and Ethan. I honestly can’t say there was anything I didn’t like.
Never give up or turn down a dare! You never know where it might lead.
I’m having tremendous fun with the line my book will be appearing in. The Heartsong/Mysteries line is great. I also love the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, most of Dean Koontz, all of Janet Evanovich, and the Christian authors are too numerous too mention. I need to take out a second mortgage just to pay for my to-be-read pile!
That you are a precious gift in God’s eyes. Just the way you are. You don’t need to amount to anyone else’s standards. Just God’s. Enjoy yourself. You’re a wonderful creation.
I’ve finished book two, Candy-Coated Secrets, and book three, Chocolate-Covered Crime, in the Summer Meadows series. They are scheduled for spring and fall of 2009. I’m starting a new series that involves three generations of women who decide to solve the puzzle of a missing necklace. I’m also working on a romantic suspense.

What did you enjoy most about writing this book? Least?
Tell us a little about yourself?
Fudge-Laced Felonies was great fun to write, as was book two and three in the series. I’ve got to think of a way to bring Summer Meadows back in book form. I miss her.
Summer is a bit ditzy, a lot clumsy, and owner of a chocolate store. She’s had a crush on Ethan Banning for as long as she can remember. When she finds diamonds buried beneath her rose bush, she sees it as an opportunity to prove to everyone that she isn’t the empty-headed Barbie doll they all make her out to be. Needless to say, her quest to prove herself leads to one mishap after another.
Coming up with innovative ways of marketing. Ouch!
What has been the most unexpected challenge you've had with becoming a published author?
Tell us a little about your main character and how you developed him/her?
Summer Meadows is me. Or at least what I was when I was thirty. Gullible, ditzy, big-hearted, clumsy, you name it. My dad always told me my middle name should have been Grace.
